Third period outburst powers Seahawks past Colonels

MILTON, Mass. - A three-goal third period helped the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team overcome a 2-1 deficit to defeat Curry College 4-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Friday evening.

  1. Salve Regina senior Maddie Cox netted the game-winner at 16:16 of the third.
  2. Salve Regina freshman Samantha McKenzie tied the game 2-2 at 8:33 of the third.
  3. Salve Regina senior Emily Wagner sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:28.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Salve Regina outscored the Colonels 3-0 in the third period.
  • Salve Regina outshot Curry 24-18.
  • Ellee Kopecky made 16 saves for the Seahawks to improve to 2-4 on the season.
  • Anna Langton stoped 20 shots for the Colonels to fall to 1-1-1 between the pipes.
