Third period outburst powers Seahawks to victory

WORCESTER, Mass. - Three unanswered goals in the third period helped the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team to a 4-1 victory over host Worcester State University in non-conference action.

THREE STARS:

  1. Salve Regina freshman Riley Esposito had an assist and scored her first career goal, which proved to be the game-winner to open the third period.
  2. Salve Regina senior Grace Schwartz bookened the Seahawks scoring at 17:50 of the first and then an empty netter at 19:05 of the third.
  3. Salve Regina junior Ellee Kopecky made 18 save to improve to 1-2 in net.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Salve Regina held a 45-19 shot advantage.
  • Amber Lee made 41 saves for the host Lancers.

Salve Regina and Worcester will rematch in Middletown, R.I., on Sunday, November 13, at 3 p.m.
