MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Three goals in the third period helped the Suffolk University women's ice hockey team distance itself from Salve Regina University en route to a 5-1 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.

THREE STARS:

  1. Suffolk senior Sofia Scilipoti scored twice and had an assist.
  2. Suffolk sophomore Hannah Gordon made 13 saves to improve to 1-0-0 on the season.
  3. Suffolk graduate student Shana Cote assisted on the game's first goal for her 100th career point and later scored at 11:15 of the third.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Samantha McKenzie scored the first goal of the season for Salve Regina to tie the game 1-1 at 11:33 of the second period.
  • Junior goalie Ellee Kopecky made 24 saves for Salve Regina.
  • Salve Regina was 0-for-2 on the power play while the Rams were 1-for-2.
  • Suffolk outshot Salve Regina 29-14
