MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Visiting Suffolk University got a shutout performance from senior netminder Julia McLellan (Groose Pointe Woods, Mich.) to defeat the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Friday evening at St. George's

THREE STARS:

  1. Suffolk senior Julia McLellan made 21 saves to improve to 2-1-0 in net.
  2. Suffolk graduate student Shana Cote scored the game-winning goal 7:48 into the second period for her 99th career point.
  3. Suffolk sophomore Sam Molind finished off a 2-on-1 break to roound out the Rams scoring.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Junior goalie Ellee Kopecky made 22 saves for Salve Regina.
  • Neither team could score on the power play with the Rams going 0-2 and the Seahawks 0-5 with the advantage.
  • Suffolk outshot Salve Regina 24-21.
