BIDDEFORD, Maine – Delanie Corcoran made 19 saves for her first shutout of the season as the University of New England picked up a 2-0 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Salve Regina in women's hockey action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night.

The game remained scoreless for nearly two full periods until Keely Kasputis was able to put the Nor'easters ahead with 27 seconds remaining in the second period. The first-year forward took a feed from Anna O'Neill and backhanded it past the glove side of the Seahawk goaltender Madison Jalbert. Abbi Charvat also added an assist on the goal.

Maeve Crehan extended the UNE advantage late in the third period as she poked the puck away at the blue line and weaved through a slew of defenders for an acrobatic goal with 1:40 remaining.

The Nor'easters held a 33-19 advantage in shots on the night. Jalbert had 31 saves in the loss for the Seahawks.

The teams finish their series tomorrow night at St. George's Rink in Middletown, R.I. beginning at 8:15 p.m.
