Pearson to play for Great Britain National team

NEWPORT, R.I. - Suzi Pearson (York, England) of the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team has been selected to play defense for the Great Britain Women's National team for April's World Championship in Dumfries.

"I am very proud to be representing my country in the upcoming world championships," said Pearson. "It's a fantastic achievement that is the highlight of my hockey career so far. I am very excited to be competing for a gold medal and promotion with such an amazing set of teammates and staff. Also I wouldn't be competing in World Championships without the help from my team here at Salve Regina, all the players, coaches, and staff have all work hard in order to get me prepared for the intense upcoming week at Worlds."

 GB will host the six-team Division II Group A tournament on home ice at the Dumfries Ice Bowl from April 2 to April 8.

Britain will come up against Australia, DPR Korea, Mexico, Slovenia and Spain, with the group winners being promoted to Division I.
