Trio of Seahawks land on All-Conference team

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Sophomore Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshmen Amanda Cronin (Medfield, Mass.) and Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.) were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East All-Conference team, as announced by the league office Thursday night. 

"When one of our players gets selected to an All Star team everyone on our team can celebrate that accomplishment with them," remarked head coach Michael Cox. "We had many worthy candidates this year but certainly these three young ladies have had an outstanding season so far."

Phalon earned her second-straight ECAC Women's East recognition as she was named to the All-Rookie team last year. This season, the sophomore forward earned a spot on the All-Conference second team. Phalon currently leads the Seahawks with 28 points on the year (11g, 17a) with two power play goals and one game winner. Phalon is fifth in the league in scoring and tied for third in assists. In her career, Phalon is tied for seventh with four game winning goals. Currently, Phalon ranks second in a single season with 17 assists and tied for second in points in in a single season. Phalon needs five points and five assists to tie first place in both of those categories.

Cronin earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team at defense after her first regular season in a Seahawk uniform. Cronin started every game on defense for the Seahawks and registered 14 points (5g, 9a) on the year. The freshman is tied for sixth in the league in defensemen scoring and fifth for freshman scoring. Cronin has two power play goals and a game-winning goal to her credit this season.

Marcik also earned a spot on the ECAC Women's East All-Rookie team after an impressive first season in the net for Salve Regina. Marcik has anchored the Salve Regina defense in 2014, posting the top goals against average (2.15), save percentage (.924) and winning percentage (.667) of any first-year goaltender in the tournament. Marcik currently has the second-best save percentage in a single season for the Seahawks while ranking eighth with 475 saves in her short career.

The Seahawks earned the number two seed in the ECAC Women's East playoffs with a 10-5-1 record in the conference and with host No. 7 Plymouth State on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at St. George's Ice Arena.
