LINCOLN, R.I. – Junior Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and freshman Austin Sattler (Guilford, Conn.) placed inside the top 15 to lead Salve Regina to a fifth-place finish in the Tri-State Invitational at the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Hughes covered the 8,000-meter grass and trail course in 28:51 to finish 12th in the field of 104 runners. Sattler was not far behind, crossing the finish line at 29:13. Freshman Dave Napierkowski (Cheshire, Conn.), freshman John Lutz (Ringwood, N.J.) and sophomore Daniel Regan (Westford, Mass.) rounded out the scoring five, crossing the finish line at 29:32, 30:03 and 30:04.

"This meet was another good test for our team, and it is good to see the three freshmen getting comfortable in scoring roles. Austin, Dave and John have done well in their transition to 8,000 meters," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "Sean and Dan did their usual good work. Whenever they line up for a race, I know I can count on them as contributors."
