NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) has once again been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), this time earning both the CCC Runner and Rookie of the Week awards. This marks the third time that Hughes has captured the Runner of the Week award, and the sixth time he has been selected as the Rookie of the Week.

Facing competition which included 10 Division I schools, Hughes finished 37th overall out of a field of 115 runners at the CCSU Mini-Meet this past Friday. The freshman standout completed the 5,000-meter course at Stanley Quarter Park in 16:24 despite tough weather and course conditions.

Hughes is one of the top runners in the conference and will compete for CCC Runner of the Year honors this weekend as he leads the Seahawks into the CCC Championships at Western New England University in Springfield, Mass.
