Hughes earns fourth CCC ROW award

NEWPORT, R.I. - For the fourth time this season Salve Regina University freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) has been selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week.

Hughes finished 53rd in a field of 430 runners at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State this past Saturday. The freshman completed the 8000 meter course in just 27:46, finishing second among all conference runners while leading the Seahawks ahead of nine other schools.

Hughes has enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign, adding a pair of CCC Runner of the Week awards to go along with his four Rookie of the Week honors.

Hughes will lead the Seahawks into the Western New England Invitational this Saturday in Springfield, Mass.
