WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

"We were just flat out poor in the first half… I really cannot think of another way to say it.  We lacked energy.  We lacked intensity.  We lacked drive.  We showed very little desire to be in the match, much less find a way to win the match.  The heat was a definite factor but you can't hide behind the fact that it was hot – the opponent had to play in the exact same heat.  But after the break, I thought we showed some definite desire to get on the front foot and play at them.  The importance of our first goal by Emmet Schuele cannot be overstated.  That goal quite literally lifted the energy and belief in our entire roster.  Once that ball hit the back of the Clark net… I knew my side had it in them to get the equalizer.  And Quiroz's header was just that – it brought us back to even terms and positioned us to then go and hunt for the winner.  We had a couple of chances to claim it and Winiarski's volley was the one that sealed the victory for us.  I could not be happier nor prouder of what my Salve side turned in for a performance in the second half and our challenge now is to produce that quality for the entire 90-minutes." - Salve Regina head coach Craig O'Rourke II
