PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Salve Regina University Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The Wildcats (1-0-0) outshot the Seahawks 13-7 on the afternoon – including 8-1 in the second-half. Senior goalkeeper Jacob Friedman recorded two saves for JWU while his counterpart, senior Nathan Reid, was credited with three saves.

The Seahawks held a slim 6-5 edge in shots through the opening 45 minutes. Sophomore Gianni Lisa led JWU with a pair of shots while junior Jordan Borges got off a pair for Salve Regina.

The Wildcats best scoring opportunity of the second half came from freshman Carlos Andrade, who nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 79th minute but saw his shot sail just wide of the left post. He finished with a match-high four shots.

The Seahawks begin a four-game home stand on Wednesday evening when they host UMass Dartmouth at Toppa Field (7 p.m.).
