Fawcett honored as a New England Hockey Writers Association Division II-III Men’s All-Star

NEWPORT, R.I. (Thursday, March 28, 2024)-- Matthew Fawcett (Lincoln, R.I.), graduate forward on the men's ice hockey team, has been recognized as a Division II-III Men's All-Star by the New England Hockey Writers Association. 

Fawcett adds this distinction to his many accolades from the 2023-24 season. With his help the Seahawks beat the top conference seed Curry College in the semifinals and advanced to the CCC finals on Saturday, March 2. 

A 2023-24 CCC First-Team All-Conference athlete, Fawcett was selected as a Joe Concannon Award semifinalist by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The prestigious award, named for former Boston Globe sportswriter Joe Concannon, recognizes the top American-born men's college ice hockey players in New England at the Division II/III level. 

This season Fawcett led the CCC in goals scored (16) and points (34). He appeared in 27 games, provided 18 assists and netted three game winning goals, including the goal that elevated Salve Regina 3-2 over Tufts University at the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational in 2023. 

Fawcett joins 18 athletes being honored as all-stars. Six athletes represent teams in the CCC including Salve Regina University, Curry College, the University of New England and Endicott College.
