-The Lead: The Salve Regina Seahawks took the lead with 51 seconds left in the first period and never looked back, going on to defeat the Assumption Greyhounds 4-1 in the consolation game of the Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament hosted by Norwich.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-After the Seahawks scored the first goal of the game, John Pigott (Arlington, Mass. / Tilton School (Prep)) tied the game at one in the first period at the 16:05 mark, assisted by Alexander Mavrogiannis (Dover, Mass. / East Coast Wizards (EHL)) and John McDonagh (Latrobe, Pa. / Shady Side Academy (Prep)). The tie didn't last long though, as Vincent Marino put Salve Regina up 2-1 just 3:02 later at the 19:07 mark of the first.
-Marino's goal stood as the game-winner, even with the Hounds peppering Seahawks goalie Louis-Felix St. Jean with 25 shots on net. Erik Udahl scored at the 15:02 mark of the second to put Salve Regina up by two. Mitch Walinski then scored on the power play 2:52 later to move his team up by three and to a 4-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Salve Regina outshot the Hounds 37-25, while Pigott shared a team-high five shots on goal. Assumption went 0-for-4 while on the power play and Salve Regina went 1-for-5.
-Pigott's goal was his fourth on the season, giving him five points in 10 games.
-David Altman (Bristol, R.I. / Northern Cyclones (EHL)) made 33 saves on 37 shots but fell to 4-2-1 on the year. St. Jean made 24 saves on 25 shots for the Seahawks and improved to 5-1-0 on the year.
-Eric Lipa was named to the All-Tournament team.
