SEAHAWK MEN'S BASKETBALL RESULTS

Salve Regina 80, TCNJ 79
Norton, Mass. – Emerson Gymnasium
Friday, November 13, 2015

Series and Streaks
Salve Regina wins the first meeting ever between the two schools in men's basketball. The only other match-up between the Seahawks and Lions came 18 years ago when Salve Regina women's basketball traveled to The College of New Jersey for a season-opening tournament. The Seahawks were dealt the worst loss in the history of the program, 87-31; payback has arrived.

Three Stars of the Game
1 – Salve Regina senior David Hanson (Stockton, England) scored 22 points in his first-ever game as a Seahawk.
2 – Salve Regina sophomore Bryce Boggs (Hyde Park, Mass.) scores 25 points with a career-best three 3-point field goals made.
3 – Salve Regina senior Barrett Hanlon (Hopkinton, Mass.) registered his sixth career double-double (10 points, 11 assists).

Key Stat of the Game
Hanlon dishes out 11 assists to match a program single-game record established by Ryan Birrell on Jan. 23, 2010, against Western New England.

Turning Point
The score was tied four times and the lead changed sides 13 times. Trailing by six (65-59), Salve Regina scored seven straight points on three layups plus a free throw (Boggs had five points in the run). Kevin Bloodgood made the first of two free throws to tie the score at 66-66, but Boggs' 3-pointer 6:41 in second half put the Seahawks ahead to stay.

Quick Hits

  • Salve Regina roster features four seniors - Brenden Fowler (No. Attleboro, Mass.), Hanlon, Hanson, and Chris O'Keefe (Lexington, Mass.) - including the program's first-ever player from England (Hanson).
  • Barrett Hanlon has one other double-double with assists as a category - 19 points, 10 assists in a six-point loss at Western New England.
  • Salve Regina head coach Sean Foster enters his 14th season at the helm and now is 7-7 in season-openers, winning four of his last six.
