NEWPORT, R.I. - Following his record-setting season as a graduate student and captain of the Salve Regina University men's basketball team, Ryan Birrell (Scituate, R.I.) added another regional honor to his collection with his selection to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Team.

WORCESTER, Mass. - Jaime Shannon scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half to lead WPI to the ECAC Division III New England Men's Basketball Championship with a 87-66 win over Salve Regina on Sunday at the Harrington Auditorium.

Joshua Hohlfelder led all players with 18 points as Salve Regina opened 2013 with a 72-50 non-league win over visiting Coast Guard on Wednesday.

WORCESTER, Mass. - Ryan Birrell (Scituate, R.I.) exploded for 18 second-half points and recorded a near triple-double to power Salve Regina to the ECAC New England Championship Finals at the Harrington Auditorium, defeating Elms, 70-59, on Saturday. Salve Regina ups its record to 21-9 while Elms wraps up its season with an 18-11 mark.

Joshua Hohlfelder had career highs in points (17), field goals (8), and steals (3) to help lead Salve Regina into the semifinals of the ECAC Men's Basketball Championships. The second-seeded Seahawks will face third-seeded Elms College in a semifinal at WPI on Sat., March 3 (noon).

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University men’s basketball team has been announced as the second seed in the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men’s Basketball Championship tournament.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University (19-9) graduate student Ryan Birrell (Scituate, R.I.), the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Defensive Player of the Year, recorded his first career triple-double (18 pts, 13 rebs, 10 asts), but a trio of Gulls from Endicott College (20-8) denied the Seahawks a repeat championship, winning 90-66 in tonight’s title game.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior William Smiley led all players with 23 points on an efficient 10-of-11 shooting from the floor to help the Salve Regina University men’s basketball team advance past Nichols College by the score of 81-80 during the semifinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship tournament on Thursday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The Seahawks improve to 19-8 on the season and will host Endicott in the CCC Championship this Saturday.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina senior Ryan Birrell and sophomore Isaiah Pringle have both been named to the 2011-12 All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men’s Basketball Team. Birrell was honored as the CCC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and All-CCC First Team member, while Pringle was selected to the All-CCC Second Team.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior William Smiley recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds to help the top-seeded Salve Regina University men’s basketball team to a 58-47 victory over eighth seed Western New England University during the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament on Tuesday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The Seahawks, who are now 18-8 on the season, will advance to host the number four seed Nichols College on Thursday at 6 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University sophomore guard Isiah Pringle (Queens, N.Y.) continued his strong play down the stretch, as he averaged 22.5 points and 3.0 rebounds for the Seahawks, winners of four straight games heading into the CCC Championship as the top seed.

Another career-high for Pringle (27 points) comes in a revenge victory for Salve Regina.

With an 85-72 win over Nichols College in the final regular season home game for the Seahawks tonight, Salve Regina earned the top seed in the upcoming championships and will entertain all challengers at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Salve Regina enjoyed its largest margin of victory of the season in a 91-61 win at Wentworth. Isiah Pringle had a game-high 26 points with eight 3-pointers.

The Colonels improve to 10-11 overall and 8-6 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, while the Seahawks fall to 13-8 overall and 11-3 in CCC action.
