SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-- Freshman midfielder Jordyn Pineau lead the Salve Regina field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Western New England University Thursday night with a game winning goal at 2:57 into overtime.

It took the Seahawks and the Golden Bears until the third quarter for anyone to emerge on top. Western New England's Kayla Antonelli scored her first goal of the season with 40 seconds to go in the third period. This put the Seahawks down 1-0 with only one quarter left to go in the contest. Salve Regina needed an athlete to step up, and it was sophomore forward Georgia Costello who did just that after scoring an unassisted goal with just ten minutes to go in regulation. This was Costello's nineth goal of the season.

Senior forward Shannon Kennedy got the overtime period going with a shot 50 seconds into the action. Western New England's Taya Buntin attempted to put the Golden Bears ahead but Junior Goalkeeper Bryn Protheroe made the save two minutes into the period. Pineau took a shot from the bottom left corner and Golden Bear's goalkeeper Ella Henry was unable to prevent the ball, ricocheting off Pineau's stick, from entering the net and ending the game.
