Seahawks wrap up 2015 season with banquet

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team recently held its season-ending banquet at the Young Building which houses the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy on the school's campus.

The team celebrated the 2015 season with a potluck dinner with players, coaches and their families. 

The Seahawks honored their eight seniors - Mary Cain (Montpelier, Vt.), Alexisse Clinger (Nantucket, Mass.), Kaitlyn Clinger (Nantucket, Mass.), Marissa Gagnon (Smithfield, R.I.), Allison Gold (Greenlawn, N.Y.), Julia Grover (Cotuit, Mass.), Lindsey Mazzola (Upton, Mass.), Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.) -  as well as their multiple Commonwealth Coast Conference all-conference honorees, Gagnon, Gold, Mazzola, Tepper, Erin Gendreau (Sandwich, Mass.), and Jessie Severino (Branford, Conn.). 

Team Awards

  • Co-Offensive Players of the Year - Marissa Gagnon, Abigail Tepper
  • Defensive Player of the Year - Allison Gold
  • Rookie of the Year - Jillian Mosca
  • Full of Heart Award - Mary Cain (a player who brings a tremendous amount of energy and heart to our team day in and day out)
  • Seahawk Teammate Award - Lindsey Mazzola (a team leader who has a positive attitude, is hardworking and supportive of all of her teammates)

Salve Regina finished with its most wins (17) in program history, besting the mark of 14 set two times - last year and 2004. The Seahawks reached their second-straight Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournament and advanced to the championship game for the first time in team history.
