Telford named All-Region

Elian Telford was named All-Region.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University football graduate student Elian Telford (Phillipsburg, N.J.) has been named second team All-Region by D3football.com.

Telford adds this honor to a first team All-Conference nod from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and earning the CCC's Senior Perseverence and Achievement Award.

"Getting All-Region is a nice cap to a historic career," said head coach Kevin Gilmartin.  "He started the first game of his freshman year and we haven't looked back, relying on Elian being our right tackle and creating the holes for our offense!  But more important than the on the field stuff has been his impact to this team off the field. His personality has been a true blessing to have around on the field, in the office, and in the locker room."

Telford finding himself on the Salve Regina football team was quite an accomplishment. He emigrated to the United States as a young man after being born in Guyana. He excelled not only on the football field, but also in the classroom. He is the first member of his family to go to college and will not only graduate, but also go on to pursue and MBA. Telford had a 3.49 GPA last semester.
