Turning Point
Salve Regina retook the lead early in the fourth quarter on a touchdown reception from Max DeVito (Cedar Grove, N.J.). In the first half, the Engineers had answered the Seahawks touchdown drive with a score of their own however the Seahawks defense forced a punt this time after a nice pass breakup by Zachary Tucker (East Kingston, N.H.). The Seahawks had the ball and the lead and turned to Joey Mauriello to chew up clock. He did that and more on the sixth play of the drive, slashing through the line of scrimmage and cutting back upfield for a 45-yard touchdown scamper to make it 21-9 in favor of Salve Regina. Connor Foley intercepted Chris Mauck (Wellington, Fla.) on the following drive allowing the Seahawks to take even more time off the clock. Mauck would connect on a touchdown pass to Keithen Shepherd (Vancouver, Wash.) on the Engineers final drive, but a failed onside kick ended the suspense and the Seahawks walked away with the victory.

Quick Hits

  • Maguire spread the ball around, hitting seven different receivers, while averaging 14 yards per completion.
  • Mauck completed 14 of 30 passes for 168 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
  • Jay Theriault (Boxford, Mass.) led the Engineers on the ground with 57 yards on 13 carries.
  • Shepherd caught a team-high five passes for 66 yards and a score while Ben Dwyer (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) hauled in four passes including a long of 43 yards.
  • Salve Regina's front seven on defense wreaked havoc in the backfield registering seven tackles for a loss of 25 yards and three sacks for a loss of 21 yards.
  • Scorigami! It is the first ever 21-16 final in program history.
