SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 27, 2019) - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore running back Joey Mauriello (Colts Neck, N.J.) as its Offensive Player of the Week for football (Oct. 21-27).

Offensive Player of the Week - Mauriello rushed for 202 yards and five scores in Salve Regina's CCC Football victory over Becker on Saturday (Oct. 26). Mauriello, who single-handedly out gained the entire Becker offense, rushed 27 times for a 7.5 yards per carry average. His longest run went for 51 yards. The Seahawks running back has now scored program record-tying five touchdowns twice this year.

Mauriello leads all league rushers with 154.9 yards per game average and 17 touchdowns. His 1,084 rushing yards on the season surpasses last year's total (1,080 in 11 games) in four fewer games. He is only the third player in Salve Regina history with more than one 1,000-yard rushing season (Sam Pascale in 2015 and 2016, Jim Callahan  in 1994, 1995, and 1996). He is one touchdown shy of the school single-season record (18 by Sam Pascale in 2016).

Salve Regina (2-5, 1-3 CCC) returns to Toppa Field on Saturday, November 2, for the first time in four weeks and will host University of New England while celebrating Military Appreciation Day.
