NEWPORT, R.I. -- Salve Regina athletics honored National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by holding a community girls' clinic on Friday, March 22.

Seahawk athletics invited local students in grades K-8 to a free clinic at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Field hockey, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, women's ice hockey, softball, women's volleyball, women's track and field, women's tennis and women's basketball all had stations at the event. Participants had the opportunity to rotate between each station and receive a T-shirt and pizza at the end of the event.

The clinic allows girls from the community to learn from current Salve Regina student-athletes and see what it is like to play a sport in college. NGWSD, celebrated annually on February 7, encourages girls to set athletic related goals and it supports the idea that sports should be accessible to everyone.
