SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS

Seahawks academically by the numbers last fall

Academic summary of Salve Regina student athletes from fall semester

NEWPORT, R.I. (January 29, 2022) - Salve Regina University director of athletics, Jody Mooradian, announces her department's academic report card from last semester (Fall 2021) with over 580 rostered student athletes. The Seahawks featured 489 student athletes with over a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (83.4 percent of all Seahawks), with 232 roster spots earning Dean's List accolades (3.6 or higher grade point average), and 30 of those undergraduates carrying a perfect 4.0 for the semester.

The top team overall competed in the fall, women's volleyball, and 15 athletes posted a semester grade point average of 3.781 and carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.701 into the spring. All of Coach Sebastian Noordzy's 15 athletes achieved a GPA better than 3.5 for the semester, including three with a 4.0 - Lauren Ahlholm (North Andover, Mass.), Meaghan Corkery (Saunderstown, R.I.), Nicole Karabaich (Greenlawn, N.Y.).

For men's teams, first-year men's tennis head coach Bruce Levine boasted 11 Seahawks posting the highest cumulative (3.606) and semester (3.656) grade point averages, including eight members who scored 3.4 or better. Rob McGuinness' men's cross country squad showed the greatest improvement from last spring through this past fall, in both semester and cumulative grade point averages.

Sebastian Noordzy, head coach women's volleyball: "I am beyond proud of these young women. Iron sharpens iron and this team seems to feed off each other to elevate themselves, especially in the classroom. Salve Regina and all of our teams are so academically strong and to be at the top of that is truly an honor and an accomplishment."

Rob McGuinness, head coach men's cross country: "This was our most important accomplishment of the season. Our men were in an unfortunate competitive situation - not having enough runners to score as a team - but they represented Salve Regina very well on the trails, in the community and in the classroom. I'm proud that they met their academic commitments and delivered a much-improved team GPA."

Bruce Levine, head coach men's tennis: "I enjoy working with this group of young men on the court, and have so much admiration for their work in the classroom. Tennis is 100 percent mental, and these guys sharpen their skills 24/7."

The average grade point average achieved among 586 student athletes stands out at 3.466 for the Seahawks. Search and sort among the 30 undergraduate Seahawks in table listing below who earned a 4.0 last fall:
