IPSWICH, Mass. (September 7, 2019) -- Salve Regina's women's cross country team was in the hunt for a second consecutive week, this time at the Endicott College Invitational. And, for a second consecutive week, the Seahawks found themselves a few points short in the final standings.

Just seven days removed from a conference showdown in the Battle of the North Shore at Wenham, Salve Regina returned to the North Shore on Saturday to tackle the trails at Bradley Palmer State Park.

The race quickly developed into a three-way battle among Regis, Endicott and Salve Regina. Magdalene Mann, Ashleigh Kelley and Maddie Boucias of Regis raced into the first, second and third positions overall, giving the Pride an edge in team scoring. It would prove to be enough to win. Regis claimed the team title with a score of 47, with Endicott (56) and Salve Regina (58) not far behind.

Senior captain Olivia Owen (Weymouth, Mass.) was again the frontrunner for the Seahawks, challenging the leaders on the opening loop of the 5K grass-and-trail course. Owen would place fifth in the field of 80, crossing the finish line at 20:39.

Sophomore Catherine Norton (Newtown, Conn.) and junior captain Sydney DeCesare (Johnston, R.I.) took the second and third scoring spots for Salve Regina. Both finished inside the top 10. Sophomore Christina Moran (Oceanside, N.Y.) and junior Katerina Bruce (Dalton, Mass.) capped the scoring for the Seahawks.

"Liv, Syd, Cate and Chrissy are our most reliable varsity regulars. We know we can count on them. It is encouraging to see Kat step into a scoring role. She's ready to be one of our top performers," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "Seeing two freshmen – Emma Cote, Paige McDade – in the top seven is also a bright spot. Those two will only get better."

The Salve Regina finishers included:
