WENHAM, Mass. - Junior Aubrey Palmquist (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomore Amy Irving (Bohemia, N.Y.) earned all-Commonwealth Coast Conference honors in leading Salve Regina to a third-place finish in the CCC Championship on Saturday.

Palmquist finished seventh in the 6,000-meter trail race, running well despite steady rain and wet, muddy course conditions, crossing the finish line at 24:34. Irving, who led the race through the opening mile, finished eighth at 24:54. The top 10 runners earn a spot on the all-conference team.

Sophomores Alannah O'Rourke (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Victoria Varone (Providence, R.I.) and freshman Olivia Wilson (Bethel, Conn.) rounded out the scoring five for Salve Regina, finishing at 25:26, 25:30 and 25:35. Junior Shannon Holden (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman Alexa Cipkas (Granby, Conn.) ran at No. 6 and No. 7, finishing at 25:39.

The University of New England took four of the first five spots to capture its third consecutive team title with 24 points. Roger Williams University was second with 58 points. Salve Regina was third with 63. University of New England sophomore Brittney Sorbello won the individual title with a time of 23:55.

"We gave it everything we had today, and that's all I could have asked of the team," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "Aubrey and Amy did their best to put us in a competitive position, and Alannah, Victoria and Olivia backed them up. On an ideal day, that might have added up to a lower score. But we still fought hard."
