Summary
Visiting Wheaton College defeated the Salve Regina University women's volleyball team 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-23) in non-league action Thursday night to win its eighth straight match.

Series and Streaks
The Camels own a 10-2 record all-time however the Seahawks have now won two in a row in the series. Both victories have come within the last four days as the Seahawks had defeated the Camels 3-1 on September 7 during a tournament in New London, Conn.

Three Stars of the Match

  1. Wheaton freshman Adara Hamilton (Mercer Island, Wash.) had seven kills, four aces, nine digs, an assist, and an assisted block.
  2. Wheaton junior Becca Houghton (Emmaus, Pa.) had match-highs with 30 assists and 21 digs. She also recorded three kills and an ace.
  3. Wheaton sophomore Julia Palomba (San Carlos, Calif.) had a match-high nine kills, 10 digs, an ace, assist, and an assisted block.

Key Stat
Seahawks errors gave the Lyons 30 points through 22 attacking errors and eight receiving errors.

Turning Point
The Seahawks took a 4-0 lead out of the gate in the third set trying to fend off elimination, but Adara Hamilton responded for the Lyons from the service stripe, firing in three service aces as part of an 8-0 run to give Wheaton the lead. The Lyons never trailed again in the third and final set, however the Seahawks did climb back into it late. Back-to-back errors by the Lyons cut their lead to 24-23, but a Seahawks error returned the favor and gave the Lyons the 3-0 sweep.

Quick Hits

  • Cassidy Trabilcy (Phoenix, Ariz.) posted eight kills and eight digs for the Seahawks while Megan Parham (Tulsa, Okla.) grabbed a team-high 18 digs, and Erin Proctor (Canton, Mass.)handed out 24 assists.
  • The Lyons have won eight in an row with six sweeps and combined set scores of 24-3.
