Seahawks take down Lions 3-0

QUINCY, Mass.- The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The Lions fall to 9-11 on the year and 1-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Seahawks improve to 7-10 overall and 1-3 in league action with the win.

Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.) led the home team with 10 kills on the night. Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills and five digs. Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.)posted 17 assists and five digs in the match. Monica Ly (Quincy, Mass.) collected a team-best seven digs.

The visitors cruised to a 25-10 win in the opening set to claim a 1-0 lead.

Salve Regina extended its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-17 victory in the second frame.

The Seahawks locked up their first conference win of the season after prevailing 25-12 in the third.

Annie Donahue (Chelmsford, Mass.) paced Salve Regina with 12 kills while Cassidy Trabilcy (Phoenix, Ariz.) notched 11 kills and Samantha Salwa (Ellington, Conn.) dished out 33 assists.

Up next Salve Regina will travel to Standish, Maine, for a tri-match with Emmanuel and Saint Joseph's on Saturday, October 7 beginning at 12 p.m.
