Seahawks sweep Colonels on the road; improve to 4-2 in CCC

MILTON, Mass. – Salve Regina blanked Curry College, 3-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action Tuesday night in Milton. The Seahawks improved to 10-14 on the season and move to 4-2 in CCC action, while the Colonels fell to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.

In the first set, Salve Regina held off Curry, 25-11, and then claimed a close 25-20 victory in the second set. The Seahawks went on to take the match-clinching third set, 25-16.

Salve Regina was led by freshman Sydney Puffer (Kittery, Maine) with a match-high 6 kills while adding 4 digs. She was followed by sophomore classmates Fiona Nunez (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) and Nora Donahue (Braintree, Mass.) with five kills. Freshman Erin Proctor (Canton, Mass.) dished out a match-best 20 assists, while adding eight digs. Senior Chrissy Fraga (Milford, Mass.) led the contest with 23 digs for the Seahawks.

Freshman Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) led the Colonels with a team-best eight kills, while adding 12 digs. Sophomore Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) led the team with 11 assists and also added two service aces. Sophomore Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) had a team- best 15 digs for Curry.

The Colonels returns to action on Thursday at 7:00p.m. for their home finale as they host Becker College. Salve Regina returns home on Saturday as they host the University of New England on their senior day starting at 1 p.m.
