SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Salve Regina University volleyball team won its seventh straight contest on Wednesday night, handing Western New England just its second loss of the season, 16-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house. The Golden Bears' record is now 11-2 (1-1 in conference play), while the visiting Seahawks improve to 3-0 in the CCC and 9-5 overall.

Emily Lipinski (Hampden, Mass.) led the way for Salve Regina with 11 kills to go along with five blocks, and Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) had a match-high 29 assists. The Golden Bears were paced by Kasey Cameron's eight kills and Heather Mears' 24 assists, both team highs.

On the defensive side, Clare Adams (Concord, Ohio) recorded 20 digs for Salve Regina and Grace Kucharski had 16 for Western New England. Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) added 19 digs to Salve Regina's 77 and the Seahawks recorded six total team blocks to fend off a Golden Bears offensive attack that suffered a season-low .055 hitting percentage.

The Golden Bears will try to get back to their winning ways on Friday night, when Gordon visits for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Coast match. Salve Regina will return to CCC action this weekend as well, taking on Endicott at 2 p.m. Saturday.
