Barry, Clancy, Duggan, and Violet earn All-CCC recognition

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Julianne Barry (Randolph, Mass.) was announced as the 2011 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball senior scholar athlete of the year as well as a member of the All-CCC First Team on Thursday, highlighting a list of four Seahawks to earn all-conference recognition. In addition to Barry, junior Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) and freshman Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) were both selected to the All-CCC second team, while freshman Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) earned All-CCC honorable mention.

Barry leads the conference in blocks this season, ranking fourth in the entire nation with an average of 1.51 blocks per set. She is second in the CCC with a .323 hitting percentage, leading the Seahawks with 244 kills on the year. She set the program's single season marks for solo blocks (87), block assists (58), and total blocks (145) in 2011, and has helped the Seahawks to their most wins in program history.

Clancy paces the conference with an average of 5.56 digs per set this season and compiled her 1,000th career dig versus Wheaton on September 22. She has been selected as the CCC libero of the week three times during the 2011 season while leading the Seahawks with a total of 328 digs in just 59 sets.

Violet has enjoyed a successful freshman campaign, leading the Seahawks with an average of 7.91 assists per set. In addition to her team-high 751 assists, Violet ranks second on the team in aces (30) and fifth on the club in digs (185). She captured the CCC rookie of the week award for the period of Oct. 24-Oct. 30.

Duggan has made an immediate impact during her rookie season, ranking second on the team with an average of 2.40 kills per set. She has compiled 221 kills and a .212 hitting percentage, while also adding 206 digs on the year. She was selected as the CCC rookie of the week for the period of Sep 19.-Sep. 25.

Barry, Clancy, Violet, Duggan, and the rest of the Seahawks will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to face Endicott in the semifinal round of the CCC Championship begginning at 7 p.m.
