Violet named CCC rookie of the week
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) was announced as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball rookie of the week by commissioner Gregg Kaye on Tuesday afternoon.
Violet had a terrific week for the Seahawks, averaging 7.56 assists, 3.11 digs, and 1.11 kills per set versus the top two teams in the conference. She had 34 assists, 20 digs, and four aces versus Roger Williams on Wednesday, and then returned on Saturday to record 34 assists, eight kills, and eight digs against Endicott.
Violet currently ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 7.82 assists per set on the season. She leads the Seahawks with 29 service aces on the year while also ranking fifth on the team with 181 digs.
Violet and the Seahawks return to action on Wednesday, hosting a playoff game for the first time in program history. Salve Regina, the #3 seed in the CCC Championship, will welcome #6 Wentworth for a 7 p.m. quarterfinal match up at the Rodgers Recreation Center.
