NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior Julianne Barry (Randolph, Mass.) has been named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Volleyball All-Conference First Team while freshman Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio) was an Honorable Mention selection.

A Second Team selection in 2009, Barry led the conference with 34 blocks (19 solo). She also recorded a .344 hitting percentage, which led the Seahawks and ranked third in the conference, and averaged 2.57 kills/game (95 total), which placed her sixth in TCCC. Barry racked up 10-or-more kills in five conference matches, including a season-high 16 in a 3-0 win over Wentworth on Oct. 13. She blocked a season-high six attack attempts against Western New England on Sept. 18 and tallied three-or-more blocks in seven of the Seahawks 10 conference matches.

Adams averaged 2.36 kills/game and placed ninth in the conference averaging 0.58 service aces/game (19 total). She placed second in digs (101) and kills (78) for head coach Lindsay Marshall and finished the regular season with four double-doubles, sparked by a 19-kill, 20-dig performance against Colby-Sawyer on Oct. 2.

"I'm extremely happy for J.B. and Clare," said Marshall, who guided the Seahawks to a 12-16 record in her first year as head coach. "They worked extremely hard to help us regroup after starting 1-7. In my opinion, there's no better athlete around the net defensively than J.B., and Clare is going to be a really solid outside hitter for us the next three years."

The Seahawks finished the conference regular season 6-4, earning them the No. 6 seed and a first-round match at No. 3 Colby Sawyer in TCCC Championships for the third-consecutive year. The two schools will meet Tuesday night in New London, N.H. at 7 p.m.
