Clancy named TCCC Libero of the Week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Libero and Rookie of the Week.

Clancy averaged 5.75 digs per set over 12 sets played for the Seahawks last week. She opened the week with a 16-dig effort in a 3-0 win against Anna Maria on Wednesday, then tallied 31 digs in a 3-1 loss to the University of New England in the first of two matches on Saturday in Biddeford, Maine. Clancy capped the weekend by notching 22 digs in a 3-2 loss to Western New England College Saturday afternoon.

Clancy becomes the first Seahawk volleyball player to be honored by TCCC this season and the first since Natalie Rubenoff (North Hartford, Conn.) was selected to TCCC Honor Roll on Sept. 29, 2008.

The Seahawks (8-16, 4-3 TCCC) return to action on Thursday when they host Connecticut College at 7 p.m.
