SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Six Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's track and field teams will compete for the first-ever CCC Women's Track and Field Championship on Saturday, April 28, at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, R.I. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with track events set to go off around 11:30 a.m.

Student-athletes from Eastern Nazarene College, Endicott College, Gordon College, Nichols College, Roger Williams, and Salve Regina will compete for a chance at claiming the inaugural title. This is the first championship year for women's track and field after a long-standing tradition of invitational events. The decision to elevate the sport to championship status came with the addition of the Endicott varsity program, giving the CCC six schools participating in varsity competition.

The championship will feature the following 19 scoring events:

  • Pole Vault
  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • Hammer Throw
  • Discus
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shotput
  • 5000 meter run
  • 4x100 meter relay
  • 1500 meter run
  • 100 meter hurdles
  • 400 meter run
  • 100 meter dash
  • 800 meter run
  • 400 meter hurdles
  • 200 meter run
  • 3000 meter run
  • 4x 400 meter relay

The team with the most points accumulated will be crowned the CCC Women's Track and Field Champion.

In addition to the women's championship event, the men will continue to compete in an invitational format as only four CCC schools sponsor men's track and field: Eastern Nazarene, Gordon, Nichols, Roger Williams.

This is one of the few remaining chances that student-athletes have to qualify of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which will be held from May 24-26 hosted by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
