NEWPORT, R.I. - With its third sweep of the season and first victory at home, Salve Regina University women's tennis improves to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. The Seahawks won all nine matches against the visiting Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday.

The Seahawks won two of the three doubles matches by 8-0 scores to set the tone early. At No. 3, senior Anna Godshalk (Orleans, Mass.) teamed with sophomore Erin Stangel (Old Saybrook, Conn.) for an 8-0 win over sophomores Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela) and CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine). No. 1 doubles saw freshmen Lauren Harvey (Edmond, Okla.) and Makenzie Sadler (Mystic, Conn.) pick up an 8-1 win over sophomore Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.). The hosts finished the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win at No. 2 as senior Abigail Burke (Harwich, Mass.) and senior Darcy Carlin (Brewster, Mass.) defeated junior Olivia DeLuca (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore Hannah Erickson (Columbia, Conn.), 8-0.

Stangel defeated Deakin at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to make it 4-0 in favor of Salve Regina before sophomore Laura Krick (Groton, Conn.) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over LaChapelle at No. 4. Harvey picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sollecito at No. 1, Sadler was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Butts at No. 2, junior Shealyn FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Erickson, and Burke was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over DeLuca.
