Seahawks provide two tennis matches for the price of none

Salve Regina University men's and women's tennis programs each hosted a dual match with visiting Babson College at the six courts on the Seahawks campus in Newport. The Beavers took both dual matches by respective scores of 8-1 and 7-2, but the sport at the Division III collegiate level took a giant leap forward.
Maltz halts Leso comeback to give Pride 5-4 win over Seahawks

Salve Regina University senior Valerie Leso (West Warwick, R.I.) had survived six match points against her in doubles and singles play versus Springfield College women's tennis today, but Pride senior Kristi Maltz (Waterford, Conn.) angled a volley off a short lob on another match point to clinch No. 5 singles and the team score, 5-4, for the visitors.
Salve Regina runs into NCAA-bound Wheaton

While the snow fell outside the Beard Field House on the last day of March, Salve Regina University women's tennis competed inside against the Wheaton College team. The Lyons, back-to-back winners of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), improved to 16-1 with an 8-0 decision over the Seahawks.

In honor of Meghan Strathman '03, a former Salve Regina women's tennis player who died in a car accident in April 2003 - one month before her graduation, the eighth annual Megs™ Doubles clinic will be held on Sunday, April 10, at the Leroy Avenue tennis courts. Registration begins at 1:15 p.m.

In addition to the honors bestowed upon the Seahawks seniors, junior Nichol Stevens (Chester, Conn.) and freshman Ana Gwozdz (Taunton, Mass.) also garnered all-conference honors.
