NEWPORT, R.I. (October 3, 2020) -- Salve Regina University head women's soccer coach Jane Walsh announces two seniors and a junior as her captains for the 2020-21 season - seniors Molly Breslin (Rockaway Park, N.Y.), Devyn DeFalco (Brockton, Mass.), and junior Molly Leary (Portland, Conn.).

"Strong, positive, and diverse leadership is essential to program success, but especially during COVID," says Walsh, in her sixth season as head coach. "Nothing is normal. We are trailblazing during every practice and every phase of resocialization to sport. Molly, Molly, and Devyn are some of the most adaptable personalities on the team."

Breslin, a midfielder, majors in marketing and has played in 26 games in three seasons with one start. For her career she has three goals and one assist to total seven points; a career-high 12 games played last season included a game-winning goal at Keene State (Oct. 2, 2019). DeFalco, also a midfielder, majors in nursing and serves on the executive board for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She has played in 26 games in her three-year career, with 11 starts, and has one goal, one assist, and three points on her ledger. Leary, a back, majors in biology and has played in 35 games in two seasons with 29 starts. She started all 20 games as a sophomore.

"Through their years with the program, they've proven they can successfully work through conflict/change and maintain positive mindsets. They are trusted by their teammates and the coaching staff, and have earned the right to wear captain stripes. I am confident in this trio's ability to lead the team through the most challenging season in program history."

The Seahawks have reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason in each of Walsh's five previous seasons, and added an ECAC first-round match in 2016.
