Seahawks settle for scoreless draw with Lions

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team battled Salve Regina to a 0-0 draw on Senior Day to kick off Homecoming festivities Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

With the result, the Lions progress to 5-6-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks move to 6-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in league play with the decision.Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer program recognized its three graduating seniors: Justine Buchanan (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) and Lauren Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.).

The majority of the action was concentrated in the center third of the pitch.

The home team managed just three shots in the opening half while the guests attempted seven.

Eastern Nazarene fired four shots in the second half and Salve Regina produced 10 shots.

Both sides recorded one shot in the first overtime session before the Lions posted three shots in the final overtime frame to finish with 11 shots on the day. The Seahawks generated a pair of attempts in the second overtime period to conclude the contest with 20.

Salve Regina earned six corner kicks on the afternoon while Eastern Nazarene was awarded two.

Senior netminder Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) notched nine saves between the pipes for the hosts.

Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) started the match in goal for the visitors and turned aside two shots in the first half. Morgan McBrier (No. Kingstown, R.I.) replaced Pala at the start of the second stanza and registered five saves in the final 65 minutes of play.

Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) paced the Lions with seven shots in the game and five attempts on target.
