NEWPORT, R.I. - Visiting Simmons University led wire-to-wire in a 14-7 victory over the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team in non-conference action Saturday.

  1. Simmons freshman Emily Boedeker (Portland, Maine) scored four times in her first career game.
  2. Simmons sophomore Nicole Elliot (Wayne, N.J.) made 16 saves to improve to 1-0 in her first start.
  3. Salve Regina freshman Caroline Watson (Wrentham, Mass.) came on in relief and made 12 saves in net for the Seahawks in 37 minutes of action.

Turning Point
Simmons scored the first three goals of the game before Salve Regina answered with two goals to draw within a single score. The story of the day however was that every time the Seahawks got close, the Sharks would go on another run to push the lead back. After making it 3-2 the Sharks went on a 4-0 run, and 6-1 run spanning halftime to take a 9-3 lead. A 4-1 Seahawks run featuring three goals from Stefanie Salisbury (Cranston, R.I.) got the Seahawks back within three, 10-7 with 13:29 left to play. The Sharks though scored the final four goals of the game for their largest lead and the final 14-7 margin.
