MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team improved to 6-2 at home with a 22-10 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth in non-conference action Monday evening.

The Seahawks remain undefeated, 7-0, all-time versus the Leopards.

  1. Salve Regina junior Kiley Anderson (East Greenwhich, R.I.) hand a hand in eight goals. She scored three times and handed out five assists.
  2. Salve Regina junior Maddie Villareal (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored six goals.
  3. Salve Regina junior Kaity Doherty (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored six times and dished out an assist.

Turning Point
Carrianne Fortier (Oxford, Mass.) scored with just under eight minutes left in the first half to cut the Seahawks lead to four goals, but an 8-0 scoring run for Salve Regina spanning halftime helped give the Seahawks a double digit lead in the second half that they would never relinquish.

Quick Hits

  • Sam Muir (Sturbridge, Mass.) led the Corsairs attack with five goals. Brooke Martel (Haverhill, Mass.) added four goals of her own while Fortier scored just once to round out the Corsairs offense.
  • Christina Myers (River Edge, N.J.) made seven saves in the win to improve to 7-5 in net for Salve Regina. Bridget Newbury (Bridgewater, Mass.) played the final 14 minutes of the game in relief but did not record a save.
  • Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.) played the first half for the Corsairs and made five saves to take the loss and fall to 3-9 between the pipes. Bridget Harrington (Northampton, Mass.) started the second half and also made five saves.
  • Seven different players scored for Salve Regina. 
  • The Seahawks had assists on 11 of their 22 goals and have set a new single-season record for assists with 98 in total this season.
  • Salve Regina outshot the Corsairs 43-23.
