Rams best Seahawks in regular season finale

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team tallied 14 first half goals en route to an 18-10 victory over Salve Regina University in non-conference action this evening at Maple Street Field.


With the win, the Rams improve to 13-3 on the season, while the Seahawks are now 6-9.


After the two teams traded goals over the first ten minutes of the contest, the game was tied 3-3 with 20 minutes remaining. The Rams closed the first stanza with an 11-1 spurt to take control of the game and head into the break leading 14-4.  Sophomores Nicole Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) and Grace Gamache (Dartmouth, Mass.) tallied three goals apiece on the spurt, while Gamache also picked up two assists on the run.


The Rams opened the second half with back-to-back goals from freshman Morgan Begley (Milton, Mass.) and Pacheco to extend their lead to 16-4.  Salve Regina answered with three straight tallies including a goal and a helper from freshman Kaity Doherty cutting the deficit to 16-7.  Freshman Ashley Gregory (Lynn, Mass.) converted off a feed from Begley pushing the lead back to ten for the Rams. The Seahawks scored three of the final four goals of the game including two from Madison Tilton to reach the final margin.


The Rams were paced offensively by senior Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.). Foley tallied three goals and collected a game-high five assists, while Gamache finished with three goals and three assists. Pacheco ended the contest with four goals and a helper, while freshman Alissa Marino (Trumbull, Conn.) tallied three goals and an assist.  Begley and Gregory finished with two goals apiece.


The Seahawks were led by two goals and an assist from Katie Kline, while Maddie Villareal, Tilton and Megan Grier tallied two goals apiece.


The Rams held a 30-20 edge in shots for the game and a 25-17 lead in ground balls. Junior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath (Bedford, Mass.) tallied four saves, while freshman Mikayla Seavey (Bridgewater, Mass.) added one.  Christina Myers made three stops for the Seahawks, while Bridget Newbury added four.


The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to MCLA for a MASCAC game at 1 p.m., while the Seahawks are in action on Saturday in the opening round of the CCC Tournament.
