The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team never led in a 9-5 defeat at the hands of Johnson & Wales University in a non-conference meeting Saturday afternoon.

This was the first ever meeting between the two teams. The Wildcats now own a 1-0 record all-time versus the Seahawks.
Three Stars of the Game
1 – Johnson & Wales junior Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y.) scored three times, notched an assist and won a game-high six draws.
2 – Johnson & Wales senior Cristal Benton (Albany, N.Y.) stopped 10 of 15 shots for the Wildcats.
3 – Salve Regina senior Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.) scored twice and handed one out assist.
Key Stat of the Game
The Wildcats converted 4-7 free position shots while the Seahawks were 1-9.
After falling behind 3-0 and having very little time of possession the Seahawks battled back to score two goals and make it 3-2. Morgan McNulty (Durham, Conn.) scored shorthanded for Salve Regina with 5:43 remaining in the first half to narrow the margin. The Wildcats started the second half strong however and reestablished their largest lead very quickly. With the Seahawks struggling on draw control the Wildcats were able to control the game and tack on goals. The Wildcats doubled up the Seahawks in scoring in the second half, 6-3, for the 9-5 final.
- The Wildcats won 12 of 16 draw controls and held a 42-26 advantage in ground balls, allowing them to completely control the pace of the game.
- Senior netminder Katie Jones (Derry, N.H.) made 14 saves for the Seahawks.
- The Seahawks have now lost back-to-back games.
