Fantasia, Cox grab All-CHC recognition

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) announced the recipients of the league's major award winners, All-Conference and All-Rookie Teams as selected by the league's five head coaches.

For Salve Regina Univeristy women's ice hockey Amanda Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) was named second team All-CHC defense, while freshman Maddie Cox (Bristol, R.I.) made the All-Rookie squad. Amanda Fantasia (9g-11a-20p) ranks 7th in scoring and 1st in defensemen scoring for the CHC. Nationally she is ranked 7th in points per game for defensemen. Maddie Cox (6g-7a-13p) ranks 3rd in the CHC in defensemen scoring.

Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska) of Endicott College was a unanimous selection for CHC Player of the Year after leading the league in points (25) and assists (16). She also ranked second in goals scored with nine. Her 37 total points on the season put her in the mix nationally as they rank 11th most in all of Division III. Her 25 assists are tied for most in the nation.

Fellow Gulls teammate, Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) was recognized as Goaltender of the Year after leading the conference in goals against average (0.88), save percentage (.961) and win percentage (1.00) as she posted a perfect 9-0-0 record in CHC play. Peterson's play also ranks among the tops in the country with her six shutouts tied for fourth-most. Her overall save percentage (.955) are also tied for fourth best in all of Division III

Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass.) of Becker College earned Rookie of the Year accolades as she led the league in freshman scoring with 11 points on five goals and six assists. Overall on the season she logged 23 points on a balanced 11 goals and 12 assists with a +7.

Andy McPhee was named Coach of the Year by his peers after guiding Endicott to a perfect 16-0-0 mark during the CHC regular season and 23-2 overall record. Winners of 11 straight contests, the Gulls' last loss came in mid-January against perennial power Middlebury. They head into the CHC postseason as the number one overall seed and league leaders in scoring offense (3.88 g/gm), scoring defense (0.94 g/gm), power play conversion (29.4%) and penalty kill (93.9%).
