MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team battled to a 1-1 tie with visiting Anna Maria College in a non-conference meeting Monday afternoon.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Anna Maria freshman Julia Smith (Chillwack, British Columbia) made 62 saves.
  2. Salve Regina sophomore Cassidy Lariviere (Mastons Mills, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season at 5:14 of the first period.
  3. Anna Maria freshman Samantha Rodriguez (Corona, Calif.) scored her first career goal to even the score 1-1 in the third period.

Turning Point
Rodriguez tipped home a shot from the point to knot the game 1-1 early in the third period, but it was Julia Smith who kept the Amcats alive in the game. Smith made 62 saves in the game, 22 coming in the third period as she kept the Seahawks off the scoresheet. In overtime Smith once again rose to the task and denied the Seahawks multiple times in around the net as Anna Maria was able to come back and force the draw.

  • Hailey Martin (Berkley, Mass.) made her second start of the season and falls to 0-0-2 in net while making 19 saves.
