Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - After falling behind early in the second period the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team rallied for a 4-2 victory over visiting Becker College on Senior Day in a Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) matchup.

Senior Moment
Salve Regina honored eight players before the game for Senior Day. Mikayla Anderson, Lexie Anderson, Kylee Babcock, Amanda Fantasia, Erika Martin, Maddy McCann, Caroline Prezioso, and Michaela Simon were joined by family on the ice for a special pregame ceremony.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina freshman Grace Schwartz (Brookfield, Wisc.) scored the game-winning goal on the power play early in the third period.
  2. Salve Regina senior Amanda Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) scored to tie the game in the second period and assisted on the game-winning goal.
  3. Becker freshman Madelyn Morgan (Riverside, Calif.) made 33 saves to fall to 4-6-1 in net for the Hawks.

Turning Point
Salve Regina had battled back from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead into the third period. During a Seahawks power play Maddy McCann (Westerly, R.I.) was whistled for a major penalty along with a minor against the Hawks. The Seahawks retained a 4-on-3 power play for a short amount of time and were able to capitalize with Schwartz's tally to make it 3-1. The goal proved important as the Hawks were able to scoring on the major power play to draw back within a goal rather than tie the game. Becker pulled the goalie with 1:51 remaining in the third period but surrendered an empty net goal to Suzi Pearson (York, England) for the final 4-2 margin.
