Gulls edge Seahawks 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 10 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Salve Regina, 3-1, on Saturday night at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) opened the scoring for Endicott making it 1-0 on the power play at 2:38 with her team-leading 13th goal of the season.

Then, Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) scored her 11th goal of the season just 16 seconds into the second period to put the Gulls ahead 2-0.

The Seahawks got one back at 16:50 when Lexie Anderson scored shorthanded, but the Gulls responded right away on the power play as Gibbs notched her second goal of the game and twelfth of the season at 17:22 to put the Gulls ahead 3-1. 

Meanwhile, Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) made 10 saves to improve to 11-2-0 on the season. Madison Jalbert made 42 saves to Salve Regina.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott is now 9-0-2 all-time versus Salve Regina.   
  • Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.)  led the Gulls with 2 assists each. Madison Hentosh (Peabody, Mass.) and Madison Huber (Pittsburgh, Pa.) posted 1 assist each.
  • The Gulls have won five straight games.

Endicott (17-2-0, 10-0-0 CHC) will host Becker Friday, February 7 at 4:00 PM. Salve Regina (4-14-0, 1-9-0 CHC) travels to the University of New England on Friday, January 31 at 4:00 PM.
