Recap
Junior Jordyn McGuire potted two goals as the Nichols College women's hockey team defeated Salve Regina 2-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday night at June Rockwell Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
The Bison (3-9-3, 2-4-1 CHC) and the Seahawks (4-11-0, 1-5-0 CHC) were scoreless for two periods despite combining for 37 shots through the two periods. McGuire broke the scoreless tie at the 13:37 mark in the third period with a power-play goal, after collecting a pass from freshman Kaci Johnson.
Three minutes later sophomore Isabella Portt won a face off in the Bison's own zone, freshman Lauren Rokala dished the puck to McGuire who was able to beat the Seahawks goalie Madison Jalbert to give the Bison the 2-0 lead with less then four minutes to go. Salve pulled Jalbert with about two minutes left as a last-ditch effort, but they were unable to find the back of the net as Nichols came away with their second conference win of the season.
