BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England women's ice hockey team score twice within a span of 42 seconds in the second period as it shutout Salve Regina 2-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon. The Nor'easters have not allowed a goal in their last 13 periods, and own the program's longest win streak at six games.

The Seahawks (1-9-0, 1-5-0 CHC) outshot the Nor'easters 8-7 in the first period, but were unable to break through on any of their three power play chances.

Jessie Scott forced a turnover in the offensive zone in the second and quickly fired a shot. Kyra Yu controlled the rebound and fed Scott for the opening score. Moments later, Bella Crugnale grabbed the puck at the far blue line and skated through the defense for a goal from the left circle to put UNE ahead 2-0. Maeve Crehan and Shannon Nadeau assisted on the score.

The Nor'easters (7-0-1, 5-0-1 CHC) killed off all six of the Seahawks' power play opportunities. Julia Benjamin had 26 stops to earn her third shutout of the year. Madison Jalbert had 28 saves for Salve Regina.

Sale Regina takes it winter break and will not return to action until a home-and-home series with New England College starting on on January 3 in Henniker, N.H.
