GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College ice hockey team erupted for a program record nine goals in this afternoon's non-conference victory over Salve Regina.

Eight different players scored a goal and 15 skaters tallied at least one point as William Smith cruised past Salve Regina 9-0. Senior Krista Federow led all skaters with three points on a goal and two assists. Fellow senior Rebecca Begley scored a game-high two goals. Sophomore Gina Scibetta (1g, 1a), junior Stephanie Hampton (1g, 1a), and senior Kiley Fewster (1g, 1a) also finished the game with two points. The Herons' five third period goals are the most William Smith has scored in a single period and would have matched the previous game record of five goals set on Feb. 6, 2016 against then No. 8 Oswego St.

First-year Jules Kennedy opened the scoring at 15:47 of the first period with her second goal of the season. Fewster and Scibetta were credited with assists on the goal. Scibetta left a drop pass for Fewster in the left faceoff circle, Fewster collected the puck and whipped a crossing pass to Kennedy, who deposited a shot into the empty net. Sixty-four seconds later Hampton fired home her first goal of the season. Federow and first-year Lexi Nottke were credited with assists on the goal. Nottke fed a pass to Federow along the boards and Federow slid the puck to Hampton in the slot. Hampton took a step and roofed the shot over Jennifer O'Connell's glove hand.

Fewster recorded her first goal of the season at 13:38 of the second period. She collected a rebound in the low slot and flipped the shot over a sprawling O'Connell. The power-play goal was assisted by Laura Rollins and Kate Klimaszewski. Scibetta extended the Herons' lead with a goal at 18:27 of the middle frame. She collected a pass from Egan Sachs-Hecht in the neutral zone, carried the puck over the blue line and wristed a shot underneath the goalie's blocker.

Federow scored her third goal of the season 35 seconds into the third period. First-year Julia Mings caused a turnover below the goal line with a hard forecheck. She picked up the loose puck and found Federow in the right faceoff circle. Federow snapped a shot into the upper right corner of the goal. Begley scored the game's next two goals. At the 6:41 mark, she fired a one-timer past O'Connell. Federow and Hampton were credited with assists on the power-play that was on the stick of all five skaters at one point during the shift. Four minutes later Begley blasted a shot from the right circle past O'Connell. Junior Maura Mulligan was credited with an assist on the goal. Thirty-eight seconds later sophomore Taylor Morash used a great individual effort to tally her first goal of the season. She forced a turnover below the goal line, carried the puck out front, and wristed a shot through the goalie's pads. Junior Lindsay Brown tacked on a goal the 16:19 mark. First-year MaryKate Martino collected her first collegiate point with an assist on Brown's goal.

Senior Maggie Salmon made 14 saves as she collected her second straight shutout. At the opposite end of the rink, O'Connell stopped 49 shots.

William Smith finished the game with a 58-14 advantage in shots on goal. The Herons were 2-for-6 on the power-play while Salve Regina came away empty on both of its opportunities.
