Three Stars of the Game
1 - Salve Regina sophomore Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) - made 48 saves to give her 406 on the season, currently the top mark in the nation for women's Division III.
2 -  Amherst junior Alex Toupal (New Brighton, Minn.) - had a goal and an assist.
3 -  Amherst senior Sara Culhane (Princeton, N.J.) - scored the first goal of the game, and only goal Amherst would need, early in the second period.

Turning Point
Despite being outshot 23-3 in the first period the game remained tied 0-0 because of the play of Salve Regina's netmidner Jennifer O'Connell. In the second the Seahawks limited Amherst to just 11 shots, but this time they found the back of the net. Just over five minutes in the second period Alex Toupal found Sara Culhane in front of the net to convert a 2-on-1 break then Toupal scored a goal of her own three minutes later on the powerplay.

Quick Hits

  • Amherst was 2-9 on the powerplay while Salve Regina went 0-5 with the man advantage.
  • Junior goalie Bailey Plaman (Bloomington, Minn.) had a relatively easy night in net for Amherst only facing 14 shots, however she had to stop two crucial breakaway chances for the Seahawks which could have changed the game. She improves to 2-0-1 in net.
